Data Showing no statistical significance between the MMR vaccine and an increased risk of autism.

One study that shows no link between the MMR vaccine and ASD is a research paper written by Anjali Jain, MD and others for the American Medical Society. The study starts with a cover page summarizing all of their findings and the context behind why they decided to go through and do this study in the first place. The purpose of the study, as mentioned in this page, is to show that there is no link between the MMR vaccine and autism spectrum disorders and to encourage more parents to get their kids vaccinated since this rumor has decreased the rates of child vaccinations. The author’s purpose and stance remains consistent throughout the essay since they went into the trials with an open mind and only made a claim based on the evidence they collected through a sample size of 95,727 children between the ages of 1 and 5 with private insurance. The authors left two pages full of the evidence and statistical analysis so the readers can take a look at what the conclusions are based on and make a decision for themselves. Finally, after the authors concluded their data and determined that there is no link between the MMR vaccine and ASD they then gave links to other credible studies done that lead to the same conclusion. Overall, the purpose of the paper was to encourage more parents, including ones with autistic children, to get their future or present children vaccinated since there is no harm within it and serves as a positive externality to the community and the children themselves.
